Dermaplaning: The Secret To Baby-Soft Skin
Dermaplaning is a safe and straightforward procedure that exfoliates the outer layers of the skin. The treatment not only removes peach fuzz hair but also removes dirt and oil build-up in the hair follicles, which often occurs if you have excess hair on your face. Dermaplaning has been used for many years but has recently become popular as a must-have celebrity treatment.
The Dermaplane Facial: The Secret To Baby-Soft Skin
Step 1. The Nora Bode gentle Cleansing Foam removes surface impurities, make-up and regulates the PH levels in the skin
Step 2. The Nora Bode Enzyme Exfoliating Peel is applied to the nose & decollete to dissolve dead skin cells and refine the skin
Step 3. Dermaplaning: Exfoliation and hair removal
Step 4. Intensive, hydrating Nora Bode Vitamin A & E Moisture Mask is applied to cool and strengthen the skins immune system
Step 5. Choice of hand or scalp massage: Time to relax, enjoy a little pampering whilst your facial mask takes effects
Step 6. SPF50 Moisturiser: Finishes the facial with instant, deep-penetrating moisture for post procedure protection.
The number one thing to remember after a Dermaplane facial is that your skin will be much more sensitive to the sun and other environmental factors. While this is true of any facial, this is especially important after a Dermaplane facial as a deeper level of exfoliation has occurred. Ensure you are using SPF protection on your face immediately after the procedure and reapply often to keep your skin radiant and healthy.
What is Dermaplaning and is a Dermaplane facial the right choice for everyone?
Dermaplaning is a method of physical exfoliation using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). This painless procedure leaves the skin more silky smooth than other exfoliation techniques due to the hair removal process.
What Are The Benefits Of A Dermaplane Facial?
A Dermaplane facial is a safe and painfree procedure for removing dead skin cells, it eliminates soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils, it promotes smoother skin, reduces the appearance of acne scars and diminishes the look of fine lines. The skin will be left smooth and naturally radiant!
Who Shouldn’t Get A Dermaplane Facial?
A Dermaplane facial is appropriate for all ages and for most skin types, but if you have deep cystic acne or sensitive skin, you may want to sit this treatment out. If you have acne, wait until breakouts are clear. For sensitive skin, note that 21 days’ worth of dead skin cells will be removed, so skin will be more sensitive post-treatment. It is also worth noting that Dermaplaning is only meant for the face, not the nose, neck, or chest.
What is included in a Dermaplane Facial?
Before your first Dermaplaning treatment a full and thorough consultation is carried out in order to inform you of what the treatment entails and to establish your skin concerns. Dermaplaning is suitable for all skin types, male and female except those with active pustular acne. Your initial consultation will take around 15-20mins. The Dermaplane facial below takes around 55 minutes.
Dermaplaning - Questions and Answers
DERMAPLANING versus Microdermabrasion?
They are both forms of physical exfoliation but the methods are very different.
Microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells using diamond peel heads or micro crystals to refine the skin surface and to uproot clogged pores around the nose, mouth and chin.
DERMAPLANING safely scrapes off the top layer of skin, so it is well suited for drier skin types and anyone who wants to get rid of peach fuzz. But keep in mind, both methods are good for almost everyone and it could just boil down to your personal preference. If you have resilient skin, you could try alternating Microdermabrasion with Dermaplaning sessions for incredible results.
WHO IS DERMAPLANING FOR?
DERMAPLANING is recommended for all skin types except those with severe acne problems. If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.
HOW IS DERMAPLANING DONE?
DERMAPLANING is a painless procedure which can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face. First, the therapist will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, she’ll pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a small, sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Depending on the growth of hair the full treatment will take 45 to 55 minutes
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF DERMAPLANING?
There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyper-pigmentation.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DERMAPLANING?
You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. All of your peach fuzz will be gone, which is why first-timers say their skin has never felt so soft before.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE THE PROCEDURE?
DERMAPLANING removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment. A monthly procedure should work fine.
WHO SHOULD ADMINISTER THIS TREATMENT?
DERMAPLANING should only be administered by an experienced therapist who is trained in this procedure.
STATING THE OBVIOUS!
It's advisable not to make any sudden movements during the Dermaplaning procedure. If you need to sneeze - raise your hand!
Many women are often concerned that shaving peach fuzz will make it grow back heavier and darker, but that’s just an old wives’ tale. Superficial vellus hair (that’s the science-y name for soft fine facial hair) will grow back at the same rate and with the same texture as it was before the treatment.
